English, as a language (not the people) often has words or idioms that somehow caught you in the eye and forces your mind to somehow fixated with this particular word/idiom. For instance, fuck is the most commonly fixated term for English speaking folks (I am sure these kinda wordings exist in other language, however since this is a english based blog, let's just stick it with the alphabets). You often see people who uses the f word, from head to toe, from beginning to credit rolls.

Yeah, we all know what fuck means, but why is it so powerful that people just cant get it out of their mouth and embedded it in each and every sentences (or close to) that comes out from the most effective communicator god gave us?

I am not a linguistic expert, and I am only fluent with 3 languages (English, Mandarin & Malay) and 2 Dialects (Hokkien, Cantonese), however, there are few things I realized that is pretty much consistent and could be helpful in providing us a clue on why some words are more catchy than the others?

First, do you realize that in many languages, the word that describe sexual intercourse in a casual manner only has 1 syllable? Fuck is one, tiu is another, kan is the same, etc.

Second, it's always pretty catchy and easy to remember.

third, it works well even if it is said alone. You often hear ppl say tiu! fuck! kan! but hardly just "suck!" "sai! (shit)" instead "that sucks!" "chiak sai!" (eat shit)

fourth, these terms are often the action of sexual intercourse or related to it, why? because it is somehow sensitive to our brain, mind and soul (When you hear it, you either feels uneasy, angry, intrigue, or in anyway, interested..? since it is one of our most instinctive behavior)

fifth, it can be reused repetitively in any part of your sentences in any forms

Ok, there should be more than those that I have listed out.. however I am a little lazy to list them all out. All these just occur to me early this noon, when I had an online chat with a friend that uses all tiu, fuck and shit in almost every lines he typed out (amazing talent).

For example, let me recap few lines of his

Friend: Tiu, so fucking early shit, y you never fucking scold tiu him?

Fred: errr...

Friend: This type of fuck, need to tiu tiu often before shit turns smartfuck one

Fred: so, what do you suggest?

Friend: tiu.. just fucking call kao him fuck, tiu him upside down till he wont shit everytime he fucking see you again, meng mou (understand or not)?

Fred: ohhh.....

Hahaha...
